A 76-year-old woman from Serbia who had been missing since Friday afternoon when she went swimming in a coastal town near Thessaloniki, was found dead this morning.

The woman had gone swimming with her friends in Agia Triada when she disappeared. Her friends alerted the port authority of Nea Michaniona, while assistance was requested from volunteer rescue teams which combed the area until late into the night.

Shortly after 8 a.m. on Saturday, port officers located the woman in the sea, near the area where she had been swimming.

An autopsy is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
