A wildfire that broke out in a forested area in Avia, east of Kalamata, southern Greece, was contained shortly after it began.

Firefighting efforts involved six vehicles, 12 firefighters and volunteers, with aerial support from one helicopter and two aircraft.

Crews remain on site to monitor and prevent potential flare-ups.
