A Dutch tourist who disappeared was found dead on Friday in the Vikos Gorge in Zagori, northwestern Greece.

The tourist, aged 65, was found dead in a 300-meter-deep ravine below the Beloi location in the gorge following searches that began on Thursday after her husband reported her disappearance to the 112 emergency number.

According to his account, he lost sight of his wife within minutes while taking photographs of the landscape.

Fire Department teams, assisted by drones, had been scanning the steep and rocky terrain since early Friday morning.

A specialized EMAK disaster response unit is expected to descend into the ravine to recover the woman’s body.
