A 40-year-old man accused of murdering his 36-year-old wife during an argument in the city of Volos last week will appear before an investigative magistrate on Tuesday to testify.
The suspect is facing charges of intentional homicide, in the context of domestic violence.
According to the forensic examination conducted on the woman’s body in Thessaloniki, the fatal blow was in the chest from a cutting instrument, while the woman also bore defensive wounds, an indication that she tried to protect herself during her husband’s assault.
The suspect appeared before a prosecutor on Sunday and was granted an extension to testify on Tuesday. Police sources said he showed no remorse upon arrest, allegedly telling officers: “I did well… She deserved it. She was cheating on me.”
Authorities have ordered an urgent social services review to determine custody arrangements for the couple’s minor children this week, the Volos prosecutor’s office said.
