Sometimes even the best mops can become tiring to use, especially when you’re constantly refilling and dragging a bucket from room to room. Spray mops remove much of this hassle however, and can save you time in your cleaning routine.
The prices of spray mops can vary widely, ranging from £6 all the way up to £100, depending on what features you’re looking for. Leading brands Vileda, Flash and Bona offer reliable solutions that help you clean hardwood, laminate, vinyl or tiled floors with ease, while others such as Joseph Joseph, Tower and OXO come with clever extras like flexible necks and detachable scrubber pads.
We update these reviews regularly to reflect current availability and performance. If you’re in a hurry, check out my top five picks below.

How to choose the best spray mop
If you’re unsure which spray mop is right for your floors, there are a few key things to keep in mind. Unlike standard mops and buckets, spray mops use only what you need, reducing waste and water usage, says Lynsey Crombie, TV presenter and author of The 15-Minute Clean.
“Water alone is more than sufficient” for spray mops with microfibre pads, she says, as the microfibre material grabs dust, dirt and debris without needing chemicals. “Safe on wood, laminate, tile, vinyl and more, they glide across all floors effortlessly to leave a streak free finish,” Crombie adds.
Most spray mops will have flat heads for fast coverage, but there are a few more innovative designs available to help you get right into the corners and under lower items of furniture. And if you want to clean your whole home without constantly replenishing the water, look for a mop with a larger tank.
How we test spray mops
I tested each spray mop on a range of floors, including tile, vinyl, laminate and hardwood, to see how well they handled dirt, dust, spills and stains. I even poured wet coffee grounds on the floor to assess how much effort it took to clean them up.
Ease of use was essential. I looked at how simple it was to fill the water tank, how smooth the mop glided, and how well it reached into corners or tight spots. How comfortable each mop was to hold and how easy the handle was to adjust also mattered, especially after using the mop for long periods and moving from room to room, as did the ability of each mop head to tackle tougher messes. I also rated the mop pad material and whether it was easy to remove, clean and replace.
In total, I tested 15 spray mops, but only nine made it into this guide. These stood out for their quality, ease of use and cleaning power. Several have now become regular fixtures in my cleaning routine. As they’re compact and don’t need buckets, I’ve stored them in my small under-stair storage cupboard.

The best spray mops of 2025
1. Best Buy Spray Mop: Flash Power Spray Mop Floor Cleaner Starter Kit
Score: 9/10
We like: Lightweight, has two spray jets, and reusable and disposable pads
We don’t like: Spray bottles are not refillable, only uses Flash cleaning solutions
Thanks to dual spray jets and its lightweight design (even with a full bottle of solution), the Flash Power Spray Mop Floor Cleaner Starter Kit quickly became a firm favourite of mine. In fact, it has become the go-to spray mop for my entire family since I first started testing it.
It removes dirt on laminate, wood and vinyl. The washable pad handled everything from dust to wet coffee grounds (and even mud) with ease. And after a quick spin in the washing machine it looked and felt like new.
I was sceptical about a battery powered spray mop as most of the ones I’ve used have a trigger mechanism. The kit comes with batteries however, so there’s no extra cost when you first buy it, and I found the button dispensed a decent amount of solution in two directions, covering the floor quickly and evenly.
The Flash cleaner itself has a pleasant fragrance to it too, which I appreciated, but the bottles aren’t refillable and the mop is only compatible with Flash’s solution, which means you can’t use water alone.
While the reusable mop heads and pads are more eco-friendly, I did appreciate the inclusion of two disposable pads for stickier messes, which were easy to attach and remove without getting my hands dirty. I wouldn’t rely on them long term, but they were handy to have.
Key specifications
- Care: Machine washable pads
- Suitable floor types: Do not use on unfinished, waxed, oiled, non-sealed or cast floor types
- Reusable heads available: Yes
2. Best Value Spray Mop: Beldray Antibac 2-in-1 Spray Mop
Score: 8/10
We like: The satisfying swivel head and with two different cleaning pads
Cons: The handle isn’t adjustable
At just under £15, Beldray’s Antibac 2-in-1 Spray Mop was named Best Value in my round-up of the best mops, and it won the same spot in this guide by some margin. It is suitable for wet or dry use and comes with two mop pads; a chenille pad for polishing floors and picking up dust and lint, and a microfibre pad for tackling dirt and stains. Together they can handle an array of hard floors including laminate and tile.
It is comfortable to hold and easy to fill, and the spray trigger releases a light mist, which helps to avoid covering your floors in excess water (this is especially useful for wooden floors). The handle isn’t adjustable or telescopic but I found it the right height for me (I’m five foot five), but others may differ.
The 300ml water tank keeps weight and bulk down even when full and the 360 degree swivel head reaches under furniture and into corners. While tougher stains and dirt were trickier to clean up I found an extra few sprays did the trick.
The chenille pad held up well after washing, though the flat pad did stain slightly after repeated use. This wasn’t a deal-breaker for me as I don’t expect my cleaning products to be in pristine condition after using them for weeks or months, but it didn’t look as bright and white as it once did.
Key specifications
- Care: Both cleaning pads are machine washable
- Suitable floor types: Hard floors
- Reusable heads available: Yes
3. Best Microfibre Spray Mop: Minky Spritz ‘n’ Go Spray Mop
Score: 9/10
We like: It reaches right into corners along skirting boards
We don’t like: The soft mop strands struggle with tougher stains
If you like a traditional string mop but not the hassle of a bucket, the Minky Spritz ‘n’ Go Spray Mop may be right for you. It’s great if you’re short on storage and lets you control exactly how much water you use.
The circular rotating head is made of microfibre strands and reaches right into corners and along skirting boards, lifting a surprising amount of dust and dirt. The soft mop strands did struggle with tougher stains, however.
Removing the mop head was tricky the first time I used it, needing a firm tug, but this became easier with use and hasn’t been a problem since. I was initially concerned the mop head would be difficult to clean but it came out of the washing machine looking as good as new. It took slightly longer to dry than some reusable mop heads, but nothing major.
Key specifications
- Care: Machine washable mop head
- Suitable floor types: Suitable for most hard floor coverings, however, the brand recommends taking extra care with light coloured and wooden flooring
- Reusable heads available: Yes
4. Best Spray Mop for Stubborn Dirt: Joseph Joseph CleanTech 2-in-1 Spray Mop
Score: 9/10
We like: Unique tilting design, comes with a wall-mounted storage bracket
We don’t like: Currently only available at a handful of retailers
A popular choice, this product is currently out of stock. We will keep this reviewed updated.
For targeted cleaning on tougher dirt and stains, let me introduce you to one of Joseph Joseph’s latest designs: the CleanTech 2-in-1 Spray Mop. The brand is known for its handy space-saving products and this is a design unlike any that I’ve come across before. The mop head has a folded section on one side that helps it get into corners and along skirting boards, and it can tilt completely to help with spot cleaning.
It excelled on muddy footprints and a range of floor types, though the brand advises caution on wood or light-coloured flooring. I didn’t have any issues when using it consistently on my laminate floor, however.
The convenience of the wall-mounted storage bracket was a welcome addition, as it meant I could keep it off the ground and make the most of the vertical space in my storage cupboard.
Key specifications
- Care: The microfibre pad is machine washable
- Suitable floor types: The brand recommends taking extra care when cleaning light coloured and wooden flooring
- Reusable heads available: Yes
5. Best Flexible Spray Mop: Tower Flexi Spray Mop
Score: 9/10
We like: The flexi-neck for getting under furniture, one year warranty
We don’t like: The flexi-neck can scratch floors if you’re not careful
Tower’s Flexi Spray Mop stands out with its unique flexible neck design, making it one of the more innovative spray mops available. Simply press the little button above the mop head to release it and it can reach into even the tightest of spaces and under furniture.
However, be careful that the mop’s plastic neck does not scratch the floor. Although unlikely to cause significant damage, I noticed it scraping my tiled flooring.
It has a double sided microfibre mop head, the coarser side of which was great at dealing with caked on dirt with the spray, while the fluffier side dealt with dust.
The handle is not adjustable, yet it was a suitable height for me and the extendable neck saved me from stooping or hunching over. The foam detailing around the middle of the handle also looked a bit cheap but that’s just an aesthetic niggle.
And even though the double sided mop head is reusable and washable, I was disappointed to discover that Tower doesn’t offer replacements. Once the mop head is past its best it means you’ll need to replace the entire mop or see if a similar pad from another brand might fit.
Key specifications
- Care: Machine washable mop head
- Suitable floor types: All hard floors
- Reusable heads available: No
6. Best Spray Mop for Laminate Floors: Vileda 1-2 Spray Mop
Score: 8/10
We like: Lightweight and particularly good for laminate floors
We don’t like: Mop head can become loose if not properly connected
Vileda offers everything from classic mop and bucket sets to steam mops, but if you’re looking for a more affordable option the the 1-2 Spray Mop is a handy choice.
Unlike other spray mops on this list, the Vileda doesn’t have a removable tank. You instead fill the handle directly with water or your preferred cleaning solution. I found the reusable microfibre mop pad cleaned my floors with just water and I could use it on tougher stains, though it took a bit of scrubbing. It is suitable for any hard sealed floor but I found it especially easy to glide over and clean my laminate floors.
The pad came out of the washing machine looking clean and fresh, just be careful when reattaching it to the mop as it can come loose if not clipped in securely. This only happened once before I realised the fix.
Overall, it is one of the more lightweight spray mops on the list and I was also able to get under lower items of furniture and right into corners thanks to its simple design.
Key specifications
- Care: The mop cloth pad is machine washable
- Suitable floor types: Any hard sealed floor
- Reusable heads available: Yes
7. Best Spray Mop for Tiled Floors: Addis Spray Mop Go Duo Fibre
Score: 8/10
We like: The price, hidden hook in the handle for hanging up
We don’t like: The handle isn’t adjustable
Adding something new to the existing Addis Spray Mop, the Duo Fibre has the same handle design with a bonus mixed fibre mop head. And it’s this model that wowed me when it came to my tiled floors.
Using a mixture of softer fibres and slightly rougher ones (which don’t scratch or damage the floor) it cleaned up a range of different messes with ease. From muddy shoe prints to accidental spills, it buffed away any dirt and debris in a matter of a seconds, rivalling even some of the best hard floor cleaners. It can’t compare with models like the Dyson Wash G1 which combines the benefits of a vacuum cleaner and a mop, but for a product that only uses a spray and a microfibre pad, it was extremely impressive.
I also liked the handy little hidden hook which meant that I could hang it up off the floor. Once you start using spray mops, you’ll realise just how much space other cleaning devices and mops with buckets take up, which is why I’m happy to have streamlined my cleaning cupboard.
Key specifications
- Care: Machine washable microfibre mop head
- Suitable floor types: Suitable for wood, tile and vinyl floors
- Reusable heads available: Yes
8. Best Spray Mop for Wooden Floors: OXO Microfibre Spray Mop with Slide-out Scrubber
Score: 8/10
We like: Two-in-one design works on stains and caked-on dirt
We don’t like: Pricier than similar designs
Given that you shouldn’t use too much water on wooden floors, OXO’s design handled them especially well. Firstly, it sprays a fine mist so you’re not left worrying about over-saturating the floors with too much water, and secondly its 2-1 cleaning pads scrub tough stains without causing any damage.
The larger microfibre pad lets you sweep across an entire room, and with the press of a lever you can slide out a smaller scrubber pad to spot clean specific stains and caked-on dirt instead of having to clumsily reach down and apply pressure on certain areas. The small pad has a coarseness to it which lifts muck in seconds but isn’t so rough that is causes any damage or scratches on hardwood flooring.
That said, I would have preferred if it came with a telescopic or adjustable handle. At 143.5 cm it felt overly lengthy and possibly too long for certain hanging racks or storage caddies.
Key specifications
- Care: Machine washable microfibre head
- Suitable floor types: All hard floors
- Reusable heads available: Yes
9. Best Extra Large Spray Mop: Bona Premium Spray Mop for Hard-Surface Floors
Score: 8/10
We like: Floor cleaning solution included, large refillable tank
We don’t like: Larger capacity makes it heavier than others
The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Hard-Surface Floors comes with a litre bottle of Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner and a microfibre cleaning pad, making it ready to use immediately.
The Bona cleaning solution cleaned my tile, hardwood, and laminate floors, with all three surfaces drying quickly and streak free. It only took one or two passes for me to see why it is one of the highest rated hard floor cleaners online.
While I was happy with the results across the board, I found that my bathroom tiles consistently benefited from using this mop as it removed any splashes or dust in seconds.
Despite its sturdy, flat design, this spray mop was noticeably heavier than the others I tested. With the litre of cleaning solution attached it became challenging to carry upstairs and around the house. The foldable design does make it easier to store, however.
I also found the wide handle uncomfortable to hold and it made my palm ache after a while. This is something to keep in mind if you have smaller hands like me.
Key specifications
- Care: Machine washable microfibre cleaning pad
- Suitable floor types: Formulated for multi-surface floors
- Reusable heads available: Yes
Spray mop FAQs
“After mopping, you’ll want to remove and soak first,” Crombie says. “I pop the pads in cold water straight after cleaning to release any dirt and stains, then add some bicarbonate of soda. This helps lift grime and keeps them looking bright white. I then give them a good rinse and wring them out, before popping them in the machine and washing them with other cleaning cloths on a warm cycle with no fabric softener, as this will wear down the fibres and take away the absorbency.”
If you’re unsure, always check what each individual spray mop manufacturer recommends.
Yes, unlike mops and buckets which can often oversaturate laminate or wooden floors, you’re completely in control of how much water you use with a spray mop. This makes them one of the safest mop types to use on a range of floor types.
Be careful when mopping any unsealed wood flooring, however. It’s worth checking manufacturer guidance before doing so.
While some spray mops come with their own cleaning solutions, most microfibre mop pads will work with water alone to remove dust, dirt and debris. “You can even use diluted washing up liquid” as an alternative, Crombie says.
